PMAC offering new public sector courses in September

TORONTO—PMAC has partnered with the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS), through the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS), and National Education Consulting Inc. (NECI), to offer a broader public sector focus to the SCMP designation program.
SCMP designation holders and candidates can register for two additional public sector-focused courses: Contract Management, offered through the CSPS, and Introduction to Public Sector Procurement, offered through NECI. These courses may be taken as part of the SCMP designation program and can be counted towards its continuous professional development requirement.
Introduction to Public Sector Procurement is an eight-hour online course. Contract Management is a one day in-class workshop delivered in person. When taken together,  completion of the two one-day courses will provide exemption for the two-day International Business and Multicultural Skills workshop for those enrolled in the SCMP designation program.
Successful completion of the CSPS’s Contract Management course may also be credited towards the federal government’s internal certificate in procurement. Participants who successfully complete NECI’s Introduction to Public Sector Procurement course would also meet the pre-requisite requirements for other courses in NECI’s Public Sector Procurement program.
PMAC said it will be working with CSPS to identify additional offerings that may be added to the public sector stream down the road.
Introduction to Public Sector Procurement will be available to PMAC members starting September 10. CSPS one-day workshops will be offered at minimum twice a year or more often if demand warrants.
